Brass Monkeys On The Hill
06/04/08
After a six month winter break, Loton hosts the first meeting of 2008. Freezing temperatures and snow showers are predicted but we’re all aching for this opening event so who cares?
Worcestershire's covered in three inches of snow. It's a steady and 'interesting' drive to Loton. The amount of snow does come as a shock. In the words of the inimitable Charlie Martin, who’d stayed overnight near Loton in order to save a long drive over from Leicestershire. “I expected a dusting of snow perhaps but I didn’t expect to look out and see it looking like a ski resort!”
Fortunately, the track's clear and we escape with just the odd snow flurry. The North West wind drifting towards Museum cuts like a knife but it’s great to be trackside again.
The marshals - swathed in multiple layers of clothing giving them the appearance of an invading army of Bigfoot - as always, remain cheerful throughout and do an excellent job.

PS.Cold is when you don't give a brass monkey's about your camera setting because you can't feel your fingers anymore.
